Adding graphics to a web page is a way to really
dress things up. Graphics can also serve to provide
much more information than text ever could. You know
what they say about a picture being worth a thousand
words. When it comes to the web, that statement can
be taken literally. Graphical images take up more
file space than text does. Remember, web pages are
being transferred over the web. That means the text
and the pictures are being sent from one computer
to another, and the graphics take up much more size
in terms of bytes or kilobytes. So make your graphics
count. Why? Because people with slow modems will see
that the text of a web page will show up much quicker
than the pictures on that page. The more pictures,
the longer the wait for the whole page to appear.
Netscape Composer provides an easy way to add images
to web pages. Images need to be in either Gif
or Jpeg format. To add an image click
on the Insert Image button.

The Image Properties dialog box appears. Click on
the Choose File button.

Navigate to where the picture on your machine is
and select it.

Click on the Open button and the image will appear
in the document. It is a good idea to save any images
in the same directory as the html page you are editing.
