What is the Noyce Scholarship?
The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) is an esteemed initiative at UMW, designed for students like you pursuing degrees in STEM or majoring in a STEM field while incorporating UMW’s expertise in teacher preparation. Graduates are primed to enter the classroom and secure career paths directly after commencement. This program supports and empowers aspiring educators, known affectionately as DISCOVER scholars, who envision making a lasting impact on the world through teaching. DISCOVER scholars signify the pursuit of Developing Identities in STEM to Cultivate Opportunities that Validate, Empower, and Retain.
As a junior, senior, or transfer student, you may apply for scholarships of $24,000 per year.

Commitment and beyond
Following a Noyce Scholarship, recipients commit to teaching in a high-need school district for two years per scholarship award year, totaling four years of dedicated service in your field of expertise and in communities where it matters most.
