Once you’re ready to apply…
You’ll need all the ‘when’ and ‘what’ details. Review this handy checklist and start getting everything submitted. We’re excited to read your application!
Suggested filing dates are October 15 for the spring semester, April 1 for the fall semester and March 1 for summer. Admissions decisions are sent by letter as they are made.
Step One – Apply to UMW
- Apply online using the UMW application (free) with all accompanying materials.
- Upload unofficial transcripts to expedite the admissions review process.
- All official college transcripts will be required to complete your transfer credit evaluation.
- High school transcripts may be required to determine admissibility.
Step Two – Accept Offer to UMW
We can’t wait to welcome YOU to the UMW campus and community! Review and accept your offer of admission through your new student portal. The portal is where you’ll pay your enrollment deposit to secure your seat for the semester, and generate your student login and email account access. Student account access is critical for advising and registering to attend orientation.
Step Three – Meet with an Academic Advisor
Once we have your official transcripts and you receive your official transfer credit evaluation, it is time to meet with Academic Services to discuss your academic interests and plan out your first semester at UMW. Personal academic appointments are required and can be scheduled virtually or with a campus visit to Lee Hall.
Step Four – Register for Classes
After completing your academic advising session, you will have what you need to secure your schedule. We recommend registering for classes as soon as you complete advising to ensure the best access to courses. Classes will fill up quickly as we approach the upcoming semester.
Step Five – Attend Orientation
This day is designed to help you acclimate and navigate to all things Mary Washington! Orientation is YOUR time to connect with all that is here for you at UMW. Connect with other new students, finalize your schedule, check out food/coffee options, meet academic and student support departments here for your success as new UMW student.
