Fredericksburg is accessible by transportation services from major airports in the Washington, DC and Richmond, VA areas. Fredericksburg is also served by Amtrak and commercial buses. FXBGO!, the Fredericksburg Regional Transit bus system, can transport visitors around the Fredericksburg area, and UMW students and employees ride free with a UMW ID.
Main Campus
The University of Mary Washington is located at 1301 College Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA. We’re just 50 miles south of Washington, D.C., and 50 miles north of Richmond, VA!
Admissions visitor parking is available on Double Drive. Please note that the Admissions Welcome Center is located at the Link between Mason and Randolph Halls for the Spring 2025 semester.
Directions from I-95
To reach the campus from Interstate 95, take Exit 130-A. Follow Route 3 East business to the traffic light for William Street. Make a left at the light. Follow William Street to the next traffic light and make a left onto College Avenue. The UMW Fredericksburg Campus main gate is on the right at first light. Admissions guest parking is available beyond the gate on Double Drive, near the belltower. Guest parking is also available on the parking deck. To reach it, pass the UMW gate and turn right on US Route 1 North. Then turn right on Alvey Drive, immediately after passing under the pedestrian bridge.
Directions from US Route 1
To reach the Fredericksburg campus from US Route 1, turn at the intersection with College Avenue. Admissions guest parking is available beyond the gate on Double Drive, near the belltower. Guest parking is also available on the parking deck. To reach it, stay on US Route 1 North and turn right on Alvey Drive, immediately after passing under the pedestrian bridge.
Directions from Downtown Historic Fredericksburg or the Train Station
From Caroline Street, turn left on Amelia Street. In seven blocks you will reach Washington Avenue. When you reach the end, turn left, go one block, then turn right on William Street (US Route 3). Continue on William Street for several blocks until you reach College Avenue. Turn right onto College Avenue. The UMW Fredericksburg Campus main gate is on the right at first light.
