Dear Residential Students and Families,
We have been closely monitoring the ongoing developments of the COVID-19 crisis. Based on the continued spread of the virus in Virginia and recommendations to stay home, we are postponing the retrieval of belongings until later in April. Another communication will be sent on April 6 with further updates and procedures for signing up to retrieve your belongings. We ask for your cooperation by not returning to campus until the belonging retrieval process resumes in mid to late April.
Students who are living on campus and have not been approved through last week’s petition process to remain should continue to make arrangements to move out. Only those students that have been granted permission should be residing in the residence halls at this time.
Staff members from Residence Life and Housing, Facilities, and Public Safety will be conducting walk-throughs this week to ensure that unoccupied rooms are locked and secure. Access to the residence halls will be restricted to only those individuals approved to remain as well as university personnel. Public safety will continue 24/7 monitoring of our campus.
Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and understanding. Your safety is our priority, and we believe that this delay in the retrieval of your belongings is in the best interest of all members of our campus community and their families.
Sincerely,
Juliette Landphair, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs
