Dear Students,
We have heard your requests for greater grading flexibility given the disruption to teaching and learning this spring. Earlier this week, the University Faculty Council approved new grading options to provide you with more flexibility while maximizing your chances for success this semester.
This term you will have the option of selecting a standard letter grade or the alternate grading options developed in response to COVID-19. The alternate grading scale will be available for you to opt-in and select for one, some, or all of your Spring 2020 courses. Courses utilizing this alternate grade option will not factor in to the Spring semester GPA. It involves the following grades:
- Credit (CRT): for grades of C or higher and will count for General Education, the major, and pre-co-requisites).
- Pass (P-19): for grades of C-, D+ or D and will count for General Education and many major requirements.
- No Credit (NCRT): for failing grades which will receive no credit.
You do not need to make a decision right now. In the coming days, we will share more details about how to make this change as well as the information you need to make good choices about these options. You will have until the last day of classes on Friday, April 24, 2020 to make your selections. We will be back in touch later next week.
