UPDATE (4:15 p.m.):
Dominion Energy has restored power to affected buildings on the Fredericksburg campus, including Pollard, duPont, Melchers, Woodard, Mercer, Hurley Convergence Center, and the University Center. Faculty and staff who have offices in those buildings may now return. Simpson Library will have a delayed opening.
Classes in the affected buildings remain canceled until 8 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, when they will resume at their regularly scheduled time.
The University Center will be open on the first floor to serve a limited menu, beginning at 5 p.m. for the dinner meal.
UPDATE (1:24 p.m.):
Due to the ongoing power outage, all classes in the affected buildings have been canceled for the remainder of the day and evening. Affected buildings include Pollard, duPont, Melchers, Woodard, Mercer, and Hurley Convergence Center, and Simpson Library. Dominion Power is continuing to make necessary repairs.
The University Center will be open on the first floor to serve a limited menu, beginning at 5 p.m. for the dinner meal.
In addition, Jepson Drive will be closed. All vehicles in the Simpson/duPont parking lot must be removed from that lot.
UPDATE (11:45 a.m.):
Dominion Power is working to make the necessary repairs that caused a power outage to many buildings on the Fredericksburg campus. Repairs are expected to take several hours. Classes in the affected buildings are canceled until 3 p.m. Affected buildings include Pollard, duPont, Melchers, Woodard, Mercer, Hurley Convergence Center, Simpson Library and the University Center.
The fourth-floor dining at the University Center is open, but is serving only cold foods, including sandwiches and salads. Other dining services are closed at this time.
(9:10 a.m.):
All classes are canceled in the following buildings–Pollard, duPont, Melchers, Woodard, Mercer, Hurley Convergence Center and Simpson Library–until at least 12:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 27. A power outage has necessitated the temporary closing of those buildings. Further information to follow.
Because of the power outage, food services also are affected. At this time, only The Underground and fourth-floor dining at the UC are open, serving sandwiches, salads and other cold foods.
