With a high likelihood of snow, sleet, and/or ice for Thursday, February 18, only essential employees should report to any of the three University of Mary Washington campuses. Those who have the ability to telework should continue to do so.
All online classes and other remote academic activity will continue as usual. Faculty teaching on-campus classes and/or labs should determine how best to engage and work with their students, and allow them to make up any missed material.
All prevalence testing scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18, is cancelled. Students with Thursday prevalence testing appointments should look to their email for rescheduling information for next week. The Board of Visitors meeting, scheduled virtually for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 18 and 19, will take place as planned, including the public comment session.
In the case of power outages, students should confer when possible with professors. Employees who are unable to telework due to a power outage will be eligible for emergency closing leave if approved by their supervisor.
In anticipation of the inclement weather, University Snow Emergency parking regulations will be in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, until whenever campus opens on Friday, February 19, 2021. This will allow Facilities crews to clear parking lots. Please note that the Dahlgren and Stafford campuses are under a separate snow/ice management plan.
Snow Emergency Areas include:
· All Faculty/Staff parking
· William Street commuter parking lot
· Top level of Alvey Drive parking deck
· Top level of Eagle Landing parking deck
· Double Drive and all driveways and roadways on campus
· Thornton Street/Pizza Hut parking lot
· University Center lots
Any vehicle on University property interfering with snow removal operations is subject to towing during the snow emergency declaration. This includes any UMW-assigned service/pool vehicles for all departments and contractor vehicles that are not parked in approved locations on campus during the declaration. These vehicles may be moved to one of the following University parking lots: Sunken Road North Lot 11, Battle Ground Athletic Complex and William Street Lot.
