At Mary Wash, we take a holistic approach to our admissions applications and consider your experiences, special talents, creativity, grades, test scores, rigor of curriculum, and recommendations. Every student is unique and our admissions process is no different.
Students have the option to submit either the UMW Application or the Common Application. You only need to apply once using one of these applications. There is no fee to apply with the UMW Application. Please apply along with an essay, application fee (if using the Common Application), or approved waiver. We’ll email you when we receive it and let you know if anything’s missing. Please know that you are responsible for ensuring your file is complete and keeping copies of all application materials.

UMW automatically considers all applicants for scholarships. Whether a student applies with their SAT/ACT scores or they apply test optional they are reviewed! Students will be reviewed for either merit scholarships (applying with test scores) or curriculum awards (applying as test optional).
