Who We Are
The Associate Provost for Community Relations and Compliance serves to ensure that UMW is a place where our community values are embraced and upheld; where we esteem everyone as a respected, valued, and integral part of our campus community; and actively provide members of the UMW campus community with resources for academic, professional, and personal success.
The Values That Unite Us – ASPIRE
At the University of Mary Washington, we as a community hold ourselves to our ASPIRE community values. ASPIRE is an acronym that stands for Accountability, Scholarship, Personal and Institutional Integrity, Inclusive Excellence, Respect and Civility, and Engagement. We aim to exude these principles in how we perceive the world, communicate with one another, and through the actions we take. Each spring the Student Government Association with the support of this office celebrates ASPIRE Week. This UMW tradition was created by Class of 2024 alumna and former SGA President, Ms. Jaylyn Long. Each day of the week a letter of the acronym is highlighted. This much anticipated event truly engages the entire campus and surrounding community. We hope that you will join us at an upcoming event!
