Clint Often begins his 20th year at the University of Mary Washington, and his first as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing. Often, who joined UMW in the summer of 1996, has overseen the Eagle sports information office during some of the greatest moments in school history, and served as host for four national championships.
Often oversees the Eagle athletic website and is responsible for publicity for all 22 varsity programs. He has won 10 national awards for his publications and features, including Best in Nation and several Best Cover awards for Eagle media guides.
A 1994 Bachelor of Arts graduate of Lock Haven University in Journalism/Public Relations (PR/Advertising concentration), Often received an Associate of Arts degree in journalism from Potomac State College in 1992. He received his Master of Education degree from Frostburg State University in 1996 in Interdisciplinary Studies, having served one year as a graduate assistant in the sports information office.
Often played one year of collegiate soccer at Allegany (Md.) College, earning all-state honors, before playing three seasons of collegiate baseball, at Potomac State and Lock Haven. He worked one season with the Cleveland Indians' AA farm team in Canton, Ohio, in 1994, a season which saw the team double its attendance from the season before.
Often, his wife Jodi, and five-year old daughters Isabella and Julia, live in Fredericksburg. He is an avid baseball fan and memorabilia collector and considers among his favorite players Walter Johnson and Don Mattingly.
