Areas of Expertise: XXth Century Latin American literature and culture, the Boom of Latin American novel, the work of Chilean writer José Donoso, and Genetic Criticism.
Academic Degrees
Licenciatura, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; M.A., Ph.D., University of Iowa; I completed my undergraduate studies in Latin American Literature and Linguistics, as well as my degree in High School Education, at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In 2003, I went to the University of Iowa, where I earned my MA and PhD in Spanish. I have shared my research through articles published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as through conference presentations, talks, and lectures at conferences and universities in the United States and abroad. I had the honor of editing the novel El lugar sin límites by Chilean writer José Donoso for the Colección Biblioteca Chilena of Ediciones Universidad Alberto Hurtado. I am currently working on a book project dedicated to interpreting Jose Donoso’s manuscripts of El Lugar sin límites.
I was born in Punta Arenas, Chile, and grew up in the capital, Santiago. I was blessed to return to Tierra del Fuego every summer. In 2003, I came to the United States for grad school. In 2010, I joined UMW, where I have been able to pursue my passion for teaching and research.
