Calling all high school juniors and seniors, and all college transfer students! Come explore the University of Mary Washington at Access UMW, a diversity-focused open house, on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Access UMW will include many elements of our traditional open house programs: an academic and student showcase, tours of campus, and an overview of the admissions and financial aid processes. The event will also feature unique aspects like a session titled Diversity and Inclusion in Action at Mary Wash, access to the James Farmer Multicultural Center and a showcase of culturally based student clubs and organizations. Beginning in the University Center, the Open House will take place on the University’s Fredericksburg campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A tentative agenda for the day is available at http://bit.ly/2f5zhSd.
“I toured campus as a high school senior in Fall 2014,” said UMW student Rebecca Goforth. “I had toured six schools by then and none of them felt right. When I got to UMW and had a one-of-a-kind tour, that’s when I knew I was meant to be an Eagle!”
Online registration will close Friday, Nov. 11, but on-site registrations are warmly welcomed. If you are registering on-site, please arrive by 8:45 a.m. Attendees will receive an email prior to the event with final details.
A campus map, as well as directions to the UMW Parking Garage (located along Alvey Drive), can be found at https://www.umw.edu/visitors. Parking is also available in the George Washington Hall parking lot and on Double Drive.
Visitors will also be encouraged to take part in the #Fall4UMW Instagram photo contest for a chance to win a $50 UMW Bookstore gift card. To learn about the rules and to submit a photo, visit UMW’s Instagram.
