Register today to help make President Hurley #OfficiallyAmazing
#HighFiveHurley Guinness World Records Attempt
Wednesday, April 13, 4 p.m., doors open at 2 p.m.
William M. Anderson Center, UMW Fredericksburg Campus
Here’s what you need to know about registration:
- You must register to participate. It’s free and required.
- Registration doesn’t guarantee participation. UMW will take 3,000 registrations, but only the first 2,500 people to be checked into the Anderson Center’s Ron Rosner Arena on April 13 will participate due to building capacity.
- You’ll receive a ticket via email. After you register, you’ll receive an email confirmation with a PDF ticket attachment that includes a QR code. To enter the arena on April 13, you’ll need to present the ticket for scanning at the door. You can bring a printed copy or pull it up on your phone.
- You need to commit to being there. Doors to the Anderson Center will open at 2 p.m., and doors to the Ron Rosner Arena will open at 2:30 p.m. Once participants enter the arena, they will be designated a spot and may not leave until after the attempt (i.e. no bathroom breaks).
- Come with a buddy or we’ll match you with someone. The attempt involves pairs of people performing jumping high-fives all at the same time. If you want to high five someone in particular, you should both register and then show up at the door together.
- Bring only what fits in your pockets. Bags, backpacks, and purses of any kind will not be permitted inside the Ron Rosner Arena.
- You’ll go through a security scan. Everyone participating will be required to go through a security scan upon entering the Anderson Center.
- Practice your high-five. Guinness World Records has a few rules about official high-fives. Watch our video to be world record-ready.
Note: Event participants only will be allowed in the Anderson Center on April 13. Spectators are invited to watch a live-stream of the event in the the Goolrick Gym.
