The University of Mary Washington will host Rich Redmond, all-star drummer for Grammy-nominated country artist Jason Aldean, for a presentation on Wednesday, April 15.
Speaking on Mother Nature, Motivation and Music, Redmond will share his “CRASH” philosophy for success, an acronym for commitment, relationships, attitude, skill and hunger. The philosophy is a mantra that Redmond has used to navigate the music business, one of the most challenging and competitive fields in the world.
The event will take place at 4 p.m. in the Jepson Alumni Executive Center. Although open to the public free of charge, registration is required. Redmond’s presentation is co-sponsored with Marstel-Day, an international environmental consulting firm that has its corporate office in Fredericksburg.
Drumming for Jason Aldean, Redmond has recorded 18 hit singles. He also has recorded and performed with artists including Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Ludacris, Bob Seger and Bryan Adams. Redmond also has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and numerous award shows including the CMT Awards and The Grammy Awards.
During the presentation, Redmond also will address the power of music in spreading messages and the need for environmental sustainability in the music industry. Redmond has previously discussed his green practices, such as using environmentally sound drum equipment, through Marstel-Day’s Vital Voices series, recorded at the Nashville House of Blues.
