Set in England, Frozen is a drama that follows the lives of three strangers, Nancy, Agnetha and Ralph, as they navigate the aftermath of the disappearance of Rhona, a 10-year-old girl. Nancy, Rhona’s mother, lives in a state of everlasting hope, longing for her daughter’s safe return. Agnetha, a New York-based psychiatrist, travels to England to conduct research on the minds of serial killers. There, she interviews Ralph, Rhona’s kidnapper. As years pass and their stories intertwine, the trio explores the ideas of loss, remorse and uncertainty as they wonder if it’s possible to truly forgive.
Frozen was first performed in 1998 at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in Birmingham, England. On July 3, 2002, the show made its Royal National Theatre debut in the company’s Cottesloe Theatre.
