The University of Mary Washington Foundation has announced that UMW’s Eagle Village will welcome two new businesses.
Wireless communication services giant AT&T Mobility and made-to-order sandwich shop Patriot Subs will arrive soon on the ground floor of the office building at the residential and retail mixed-use Eagle Village development. Patriot Subs leased the 1,500 square-foot space that had housed Quiznos and plans to open in September. AT&T Mobility, which will move into the 3,400-square-foot front-corner space previously occupied by Pancho Villa, is slated to open early next year.
“We are excited to welcome these new businesses to Eagle Village and know that our patrons will be well-served by both. We have long sought a cellular provider to service our customers and having a fresh, new concept like Patriot Subs will be an excellent addition to our food and beverage offerings,” said Jeff Rountree, CEO of the UMW Foundation and president of Eagle Property Holdings, LLC. “We couldn’t be happier they picked Eagle Village.”
AT&T’s second store in the Fredericksburg area will offer all the latest products and services, including smartphones, accessories and DIRECTV packages, said Dawn Couch, the company’s MidAtlantic lead public relations manager.
A new-concept patriotic-themed sandwich shop, Patriot Subs was founded by two service-disabled Army veterans, and offers made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and sides. The business supports military relief and wounded veteran organizations through its “Round-up-for-Heroes” program, according to President and CEO Brian Picerno, and plans to open other locations in Virginia and Florida.
Owned by the UMW Foundation, Eagle Village is a 23-acre pedestrian-friendly mixed-use village in the former Park & Shop retail center, across U.S. 1 from UMW’s Fredericksburg campus. Anchored by the Hyatt Place-Fredericksburg hotel and Giant grocery store, it includes an apartment-style residence complex for Mary Washington students, plus office space, retail and restaurant facilities, and a multi-level parking garage.
