Shawn Boyer, president and chief executive officer of SnagAJob.com, has been selected as executive-in-residence at the University of Mary Washington for the fall semester.
For the first time, the annual UMW event will offer a free public “webinar” on Wednesday, October 8 from noon to 1 p.m. The webinar is co-sponsored by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce and the Rappahannock Region Small Business Development Center To participate, visit https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/912539020. Boyer has directed SnagAJob.com’s rapid growth from start-up to the nation’s largest hourly job site. His insights on the hourly workforce have appeared in places such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Associated Press, CNN and in daily newspapers throughout the nation.
Boyer was named the 2008 National Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration and was recognized by President George W. Bush for successfully creating a Web site to help unemployed Americans find work.
Prior to founding SnagAJob.com in 1999, Boyer was a transactional attorney with the law firm of Brown & Wood LLP, now Sidley Austin, LLP. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Washington & Lee School of Law, and he received his LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
Established in 1989, University of Mary Washington’s Executive-in-Residence Program provides students from all academic disciplines of the university the opportunity to interact with well-known and established leaders in the corporate world and enhances students’ knowledge of the free enterprise system. The program also provides an opportunity for the university to encourage increased involvement and interaction of local business leaders in the life of the university.
