Suzanne C. de Janasz, associate professor of leadership and management, will be featured on the public radio program “With Good Reason” beginning May 2. She will discuss her research on mentoring during a segment called “Mentoring in the Workplace” that will air Saturday, May 2 at 4:30 p.m. on WCVE 88.9, on Monday at 12:30 a.m. WAMC 88.5 and online at www.withgoodreason.org.
The term mentor dates back to the Greek mythological goddess Mentor, who was a trusted counselor of Odysseus. Today mentoring still fuels career success in all fields, but de Janasz says in this techno-dependent age that online tools can be used to establish relationships with mentors as professionals build careers.
De Janasz is an expert in the fields of mentoring, managing work-family conflict, networking, interpersonal skills and leadership. She coauthored the text “Interpersonal Skills in Organizations.” She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, and a master of business administration and a doctorate in business administration from the University of Southern California. De Janasz won a Fulbright fellowship, serving in 2007 as a lecturer in Poland at Warsaw University’s School of Management.
