Three photos in the current Belmont Portrayed: Through a Lens exhibition at Gari Melchers Home and Studio have been recognized as winners of the “People’s Choice” vote.
Since the show opened on March 18, gallery visitors have been asked to choose their favorite photo from the 21 on display, with almost 800 guests registering their vote.
Jennifer Manfre of Fredericksburg won the first-place award of $500 for Spring at the Gazebo, from 2014. Penny Parrish of Fredericksburg won the second-place award of $300 for Belmont Gate, also taken in 2014. John Bice of Rhoadesville won the third-place award of $200 for Melchers’ Meditation.
The exhibition will be on display through Sunday, May 21.
The property, which is operated by the University of Mary Washington, is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, across the Rappahannock River from Fredericksburg, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
