Pell Tuition Promise
The University of Mary Washington offers you the finest deal on your education, from reasonable tuition to a valuable college experience. UMW will fill in any gaps in your tuition financing for Pell-eligible students in Virginia who are funded by the federal Pell Grant by offering additional state grants and institutional support. This will provide the groundwork for your future success with funding that you are not required to repay.
Beginning with the 2024–2025 academic year, UMW will pay the full cost of tuition for Virginia Pell-eligible students under the Tuition Promise program. Learn more about UMW’s Tuition Promise.
“Eagle Stay” Student Emergency Grant Program
Students who are currently enrolled at UMW and who need temporary, emergency financial assistance due to unforeseen emergencies or financial issues that entail situations beyond their control and for whom they have used up all other available means are eligible to apply for the Eagle Stay Student Emergency Grant. The emergency stipend will help the student avoid having their attendance at UMW interrupted and from having outside events divert them from their studies.
Requests for Eagle Stay funds are considered on the basis of what is recognized as an emergency. Emergencies could include, but are not limited to:
- Homelessness or sudden loss of housing
- Inability to pay for school related expenses (books, course materials, etc.)
- Loss or damage of school equipment essential to degree completion (e.g., Laptop)
- Current emergency medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Technology/equipment needed to ensure continuity of learning
