Get the word out.
The Cedric Rucker University Center (CRUC) is a great place to get the word out about your organization, upcoming event, or any services or products you offer.
At the CRUC, we have a variety of ways that you can advertise for your event:
Kiosks
Want to get some face time with the UMW community?
- Kiosk tabling (single tables with 2 chairs at the foot of the stairs on the 2nd floor) is a great way to be seen and heard on campus. The three Kiosks in the lobby are only for student organizations and UMW departments. Kiosks MUST be reserved in 25Live to be valid. Presence/MyUMW requests do not grant a club access. Unauthorized users will be asked to vacate the Kiosk. No flyers or displays may be left at Kiosks before or after the reserved time.
- Kiosk areas consist of the space around and behind the table, approximately ten feet wide and five feet deep.
- Additional tables or chairs and the using of additional space around the assigned Kiosk is not allowed without advance approval from, and at the discretion of, the CRUC Facilities and Events manager based on space at the Kiosks, other events or activity on the 2nd floor, availability of furniture, etc.
Flyers
Using flyers to help promote your event, sell your books, or whatever else you’d like is an easy way to reach CRUC patrons throughout the day. These are in accordance with the University’s “Posting and Chalking Policy.”
- The CRUC has two bulletin boards available for flyer use. We do not allow the posting of flyers, even for events, anywhere else in the building; consequently, flyers not on bulletin boards will be removed promptly.
- Flyers MUST receive an approval stamp from the 3rd floor SAE service desk. Stamps will have a date of approval and therefore can be checked for authenticity. We remove flyers with faked approvals.
- No flyers, business cards, or pamphlets may be left at Kiosks, on benches or ottomans, or on tables or other surfaces in the CRUC, including but not limited to the Living Rooms, Chandler lobby, 3rd and 4th floor lounge spaces, or exterior patios. We will remove all such items. Exceptions are made for the Admissions office.
Sandwich Boards
- Sandwich Board advertising may be placed in the vestibule in designated areas that do not block egress on the Ball Circle side of the 2nd floor lobby, or on the CRUC patio and brick walk areas near Ball Circle. Other spaces, such as near the elevators, may be available, but boards may not block egress to doors or stairwells or elevators, the electronic keybox, or be in violation of fire codes.
- Advertising must be current and follow the same approval guidelines as flyers through SAE. Request sandwich boards through SAE.
Banners
Want to make a bold statement to the UMW community regarding your club, department, or event? Use a banner! Banner guidelines are in accordance with the University’s “Posting and Chalking Policy.”
- Banners hang in the 2nd floor atrium and allow CRUC patrons to see your promotion at a glance.
- Banners are hung first-come, first-served at the discretion of the CRUC Facilities and Events manager.
- We will display dated banners up to two weeks before an event. Exceptions may be made if there is space. Dated takes priority over undated. Undated banners may go up and down depending on space.
- Request a banner for your club through MyUMW. SAE prints them on Thursday mornings. Departments may provide their own – please ask for specifications.
- Deliver your banner to the CRUC Information Desk by Thursday afternoon.
- Concierge Services staff hang banners by end of business on Fridays. They remove banners as soon as possible after the event ends.
CRUC TV Monitors
- There are several TV Monitors in the building set up as ZoomRooms by University Communications to promote University events and initiatives. Request event promotions on these from University Communications.
Other
- For any other items, such as collection boxes or larger displays, or for using other temporary locations to put displays or sandwich boards, request approval by emailing the Facilities and Events Manager. Alternatively, stop by Room 209, behind the Concierge Services Information Desk.
